The Barry County Sheriff Office is contracted by the Village of Middleville to provide police service to the community. The sheriff's Office has had the contract since 1999.

The Village of Middleville is approximately 2.1 square miles and bordered by Thornapple Township.  The population of the village in 2000 was 2,721, with an estimated population in July 2004: 2,785, representing a (+2.4% change).

The make up of the sheriff's Office in Middleville is as follows:

6 Sworn Reserve Deputies
Bicycle Patrol

The Middleville Unit also has full access to the resources of the Barry County Sheriff's Office, including Detective Bureau, K-9 Division, School Liaison program and all other applicable divisions and units.
